The short answer

Madison has more for young kids than it usually gets credit for. Peeler Park runs along a bend in the Cumberland River with a greenway and trails, Madison Park and Cedar Hill Park round out the outdoor options, and Amqui Station, the 1910 depot Johnny Cash bought, moved away and that later came home to Madison, is a history stop that train-mad kids will actually sit still for.

For the days the weather rules all of that out, Dinotopia is an indoor dinosaur play park for ages 1 to 10 at 2291 Gallatin Pike N, right next door to Dick's Sporting Goods. If you know where Dick's is, you already know where we are. Open every day, 10AM to 7PM.

How Madison families use the park

  • Tacked onto a Dick's run

Picking up cleats or a new ball next door? The errand and the afternoon out can be the same trip.

  • A weekday afternoon, not an expedition

Close enough to come after school without planning around it. The floor is quietest before about four on a weekday.

  • When the river trails are soaked

A wet week at Peeler Park does not cancel anything here. The whole park is indoors.

  • A membership that gets used

Living nearby is when a monthly membership pays off: two visits a month already costs less than day passes.

  • Birthdays close to home

Party packages with a host and a reserved room, without asking the whole class to drive across Nashville.

  • Toddlers and big kids, one trip

The gated area for ages 1 to 4 sits in sight of the main structure, so siblings a few years apart both get their morning.

Finding us in Madison

We are on the northern stretch of Gallatin Pike at 2291 Gallatin Pike N. Look for Dick's Sporting Goods and you have found us: we are right next door, with free parking outside.

Gallatin Pike runs the length of Madison, so from most of the neighborhood the directions come down to getting onto Gallatin Pike and finding Dick's. Coming up from East Nashville or downtown, Ellington Parkway is the quick way into Madison.

Close enough to make it a habit

Living in Madison changes the math. A membership is $24.95 a month per child for a two-hour pass every day we are open, with one parent included and no contract. Two visits a month already costs less than paying at the door.

Not ready to sign up? The weekday pricing does most of the same work: $15 a child on Mondays and Wednesdays, $13 on Thursdays, one parent in free on Tuesdays, and $59.95 for the whole family on Family Friday.

Before you head over

  • Grip socks come from our counter

Everyone in the play areas wears our non-slip socks. They are $3.95 a pair and yours to keep, so bring the same pair back next time.

  • Free parking out front

The lot is right outside on Gallatin Pike N, and it costs nothing to park.

  • Do the waiver at home

The waiver is online. Filling it in before you leave means walking straight onto the floor instead of stopping at the desk.

  • Somewhere for the grown-ups

Seating runs across the floor, and the Pterodactyl Café has hot food, snacks and cold drinks.

  • A gated corner for ages 1 to 4

The littlest ones get their own soft-play area, walled off from the big structure but in view of it.

  • Quietest on weekday mornings

Weekday mornings are the calmest time to come. Saturdays are the busiest, and the kids would tell you the most fun.
